What software is on the minds of buyers this past week? Of the top 10 trending software categories, 4 are related to security—a trend we continue to see for the past few weeks.

An increasing interest in security and cloud-focused software

Interest in security products is supported by a recent study G2 conducted of software buyers, which stated that security is the topmost concern for both mid-market and enterprise buyers when purchasing new software. I imagine securing a company’s internal operations would be of similar interest as the inherent security of a software product (or one can hope).

G2’s Best Security Software page hosts over 1,700 security products and 37,000 corresponding users’ reviews of those security products. 

Another trend I’m seeing in this top 10 list is that 3 of the top 10 trending software categories are focused on the cloud. Interest in cloud-related software may be evidence that more companies are leaving their legacy, on-premises software behind and moving to cloud applications, as Preethica Furtado, G2’s market research team lead explains in her article on the subject.
